  • Medici – Known by students as the place to go to get a delicious Mexicana milkshake, the Med also offers pizza, burgers, sandwiches, and pasta.
  • Valois – Though Valois has a lunch and dinner menu, it is well known for its all-day breakfast options.  A favorite spot of President Obama.
  • The Snail – Traditional Thai cuisine, best for small- to medium-sized groups, as food is served family-style.
  • Z&H – This café is a great place to pick up a sandwich and a coffee.
  • Noodles Etc. – Pan-Asian cuisine best known, of course, for their noodle dishes.

  • Take a walk to the Promontory Point.  This park juts into Lake Michigan and is perfect for a stroll.  On clear days, you can even see the city skyline.
    • To get there, walk east along 55th street towards the lake.  It is roughly a mile from the main campus
    • It neighbors the Museum of Science and Industry and the 57th Street Beach
  • Explore the Museum of Science and Industry.  The building was originally built for the 1893 World’s Fair and now houses a series of fascinating interactive exhibits.  There is a special exhibit this fall called “Numbers in Nature.”
  • Admire the lofty heights of Rockefeller Chapel.  It is the tallest building on campus and features some beautiful stained glass windows, carvings, and architectural highlights, as well as regular organ and carillon concerts.
  • Walk around Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House.  Designed and built between 1908 and 1910, it is a prime example of Prairie Style architecture.  It is definitely worth seeing, if not for its beauty, then because it is a National Historic Landmark.
  • Browse the Seminary Co-Op Bookstore.  Though no longer located in the basement of the Chicago Theological Seminary (and unfortunately losing the maze-like qualities of its shelf arrangement), this bookstore is worth a visit.  It is one of the best academic bookstores on the planet, though it also stocks commercial literature.
